Red Tail Ratsnakes
Gonyosoma sp.

Asian Rat snakes of the genus Gonyosoma are some of our favorite snakes. We personally work heavily with the three commonly recognized forms of Gonyosoma - frenata, jansenii (both the melanistic Sulawesi animals and the more-typical cream and black specimens), and oxycephala (the Sumatran & Javan Red-tail Green Ratsnake - both the typical green phase, and the Javan silver types). These can represent quite a challenge, particularly as wild caught specimens - frequently they are heavily parasitized, and even once seemingly acclimated, mortality is not uncommon. Hatching well-formed babies is similarly challenging; this species requires long, cool incubation, and even then it can be tricky. These are DEFINETLY not for everyone, and we hardly sell them because of the challenge they represent, but if you feel prepared for one of the ultimate asian challenges shoot us an email - we have surplus available.
