Asian Rat snakes of the genus Gonyosoma are some of our favorite snakes. We personally work heavily with the three commonly recognized forms of Gonyosoma - frenata, jansenii (both the melanistic Sulawesi animals and the more-typical cream and black specimens), and oxycephala (the Sumatran & Javan Red-tail Green Ratsnake - both the typical green phase, and the Javan silver types). These can represent quite a challenge, particularly as wild caught specimens - frequently they are heavily parasitized, and even once seemingly acclimated, mortality is not uncommon. Hatching well-formed babies is similarly challenging; this species requires long, cool incubation, and even then it can be tricky.
