Alternatively known as Sumatran or Malaysian Blood Pythons, these are a perfect medium-sized python for keepers looking to work with substantial snakes that still remain small enough to be easily maintained and managed. Females typically reach 4 to 6 feet and 12-20 pounds (occasionally more, though typically from fat), with males being smaller. Though the species has a nasty reputation from the years of imported adult/ sub-adult male Malaysian bloods that marked many keepers' first exposure to the species, we have found most captive bred or captive hatched babies to be docile or at the least easily managed. Our babies are all shipped feeding on frozen/ thawed rat pups unless otherwise indicated. These are an HPH favorite, and though we don't do the volume of some other dealers, we focus on selecting the very best imports and captive hatched/ farm bred babies that come into the United States. Over the years we have cultivated a good working relationship with Bushmaster Reptiles, the premier blood python importer in the world, and when it comes to farmed babies, we literally have first pick of the many thousands that come into the country. Feel free to buy elsewhere, but rest assured if they came from Indo, they came from Kamuran, and we passed on purchasing them. The best way to access these babies from us is to get on our notification list - we always pre-sell babies through email before posting them publicly here or on the kingsnake.com classififeds, and we typically sell out just from the notification lists, especially the choicest animals. Blood Pythons are a relatively untapped market item; unlike ball pythons these have not been commercially developed to the point that most morphs are already being bred extensively and sold (or at least offered publicly) for huge price tags. Bloods still have plenty of opportunity to breed funky wild animals and produce mutations; every year we see and offer wild bred examples of unknown morphs, most for prices lower than other dealers sell lesser quality normals.
Baby Blood Pythons are typically available seasonally, with the most available babies between June and September. We do typically have babies at other times of the year, but usually in very small numbers. Email us to get on our notification list to hear about our available stock and anticipated availability.
